Pecluma struthionis

An epiphytic fern from the cloud forests of South America, producing an open rosette of elongated, pinnate fronds with densely arranged, linear-lanceolate alternate pinnae along gracefully arching rachises. Its airy, feathery texture and outward-curving frond habit give it a sculptural presence that makes it an elegant addition to any epiphytic or mounted fern collection.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate pinnae and dry out the rhizome.
• Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C); a cool to intermediate grower that benefits from stable, mild temperatures and good air circulation.
• Humidity: 70–90%; very high humidity is essential to maintain the fine pinnae and support healthy rhizome development.
• Watering: Keep the medium or mount evenly moist; never allow to dry out completely, as the rhizome is sensitive to desiccation.

Additional Notes

Pecluma struthionis is best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a hanging basket with a loose, moisture-retentive epiphytic mix. Shipped as a well-established plant, ready to mount or repot upon arrival.
