Miltonia phymatochila

Miltonia phymatochila is a distinctive Brazilian epiphytic orchid with an elegant growth habit and strong botanical appeal. Its seasonal development responds well to attentive watering, fresh media, and steady airflow, making it a rewarding species for a thoughtfully maintained orchid collection.

Care Guide

• Light: Provide medium to bright filtered light and protect the foliage from intense midday sun.
• Water: Water regularly while new growth and roots are active, keeping the medium lightly moist without stagnation. As growth matures, allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings, but avoid a prolonged hard dry rest.
• Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity with strong, consistent airflow around the foliage and roots.
• Temperature: Grow in intermediate to warm conditions with some nighttime cooling when possible. Protect from frost and prolonged extreme heat.
• Growing medium: Use an airy, moisture-retentive orchid mix that drains freely. Repot as new roots begin and before the medium becomes compacted or decomposed.

With filtered light, regular moisture during active growth, warmth, humidity, and excellent airflow, Miltonia phymatochila can develop into a handsome and rewarding specimen orchid.
