Description

Description

The albescens form of Masd. infracta bears softly pale, near-white flowers with a delicate creamy suffusion, retaining the species' signature triangular sepaline tube and elongated tails, and blooms successively from upright single-flowered inflorescences throughout the year.

  • Light: Thrives under 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure, which causes leaf scorch and stress.
  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate grower. Daytime 59–72°F (15–22°C), nights 45–55°F (7–13°C). A consistent day-night differential of at least 10°F (5°C) encourages repeat blooming.
  • Humidity: Prefers 70–85% relative humidity; use humidity trays or a humidifier paired with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist year-round; mounted plants require more frequent watering than potted ones, with a slight reduction during cooler months.

Additional Notes

Native to Brazil at elevations of 1,000–2,000 meters in cool, humid Atlantic Forest habitats. Best grown in small pots with fine bark or sphagnum moss, or mounted on cork bark to suit its rambling root system.
