Description

Description

A captivating species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, renowned for its distinctive triangular flowers with elongated sepals and intricate patterns. This cold-growing orchid produces successive white flowers in hanging inflorescences, making it an exceptional choice for collectors of unusual and exotic orchids.

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light, equivalent to 60-80% shade cloth. Protect from direct sun which can damage the foliage.
  • Temperature: Cool conditions with daytime 60-70°F (16-21°C), nighttime 50-60°F (10-16°C). Consistent cool temperatures are essential, avoid temperatures above 75°F (24°C).
  • Humidity: 70-90% with excellent air circulation. This cloud forest species requires very high humidity and constant gentle air movement to thrive.
  • Watering: Keep consistently moist year-round, watering every 2-4 days. Never allow the medium to dry out completely. Use pure water (rainwater or reverse osmosis) as Dracula species are sensitive to mineral buildup.

Additional Notes

Flowers feature characteristic elongated sepals and intricate markings typical of the Dracula genus. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork, or in fine bark mix with excellent drainage. Ideal for cool terrariums or dedicated cool growing areas with high humidity.
