Tillandsia complanata

An epiphytic bromeliad from the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing a wide, open rosette of long, strap-like leaves that arch gracefully outward in a fan-like arrangement. Slender, erect lateral inflorescences emerge from between the leaves, adding architectural interest to the overall silhouette.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C); a warm grower that thrives with stable, warm temperatures and good air circulation.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; mist regularly or mount near a humidifier to maintain adequate moisture around the roots.
  • Watering: Soak or mist 2–3 times per week; allow to dry slightly between waterings to prevent rot at the base.
