Information

Description

Description

A charming miniature lithophytic species native to the rocky habitats and mountain forests of South America, highly prized for its compact size and colorful presence. This rupicolous plant produces small, tightly clustered pseudobulbs that give rise to upright inflorescences holding a striking display of star-shaped, heavily textured flowers.

  • Light: Bright indirect light or filtered sunlight with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to protect the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–86Β°F (15–30Β°C); an adaptable intermediate grower that appreciates a slight night drop to mimic its natural environment.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent atmospheric moisture encourages strong root establishment and keeps the pseudobulbs plump.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the growing medium to dry completely between applications; excellent drainage is vital to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated in a coarse, fast-draining bark mix, shallow terracotta pots, or mounted onto plaques to accommodate its miniature plant habit and small flower size. Ships bare root, well established, and ready to be rehydrated at an intermediate temperature and promptly potted upon receipt.
