A compact cool-growing epiphytic orchid from the Andean cloud forests of South America, producing slender erect scapes from a dense rosette of small leaves. Each flower features elongated lateral sepals curving sharply downward with dark filiform tails, a hooded dorsal sepal arching forward, and a hinged motile labellum — the sensitive trap mechanism unique to the genus, giving the flower a distinctly angular and dramatic silhouette.
Additional Notes
Best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, moisture-retentive mix and strong air movement. The motile labellum responds to touch — a fascinating feature to observe in cultivation. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
Arrived in great condition. Nice-sized specimen I mounted on cork. Leaves are up to 1 1/2 inches long, with a nice bumpy texture, and petioles about 2 inches long. Growing in a terrarium with LED lighting at about 1800 fc. Keeping moist, with humidity between 65-85%, and air circulation provided by a mini fan.
