Information

Description

Description

A reed-stem orchid native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing exceptionally dense, globe-shaped corymbs packed with numerous small, fully open flowers featuring broad ovate sepals, rounded petals, and a trilobed lip with a wide emarginate central lobe. The tight, ball-like inflorescence is one of the most striking in the genus and makes it a standout cool-growing specimen.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the narrow foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that requires cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests to thrive and bloom reliably.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity supports vigorous cane development and the production of dense floral clusters.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a generously sized pot with a well-draining bark-based mix and excellent air circulation to support the tall canes and heavy floral heads. Ships bare root, well-established.
