Epidendrum centropetalum

This epiphytic orchid, is native to the wet montane forests of Central America, growing at elevations of 1200 to 1500 meters. It is a small to medium-sized, cool to intermediate-growing orchid.

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to partial sun, with a range of 25000-35000 lux. High light without strong direct sun is beneficial.
• Temperature: Moderate-temperature species. Average day temperature is 72-77°F (22-25°C), and night temperature is 55-59°F (13-15°C), with a 9-11°C diurnal amplitude.
• Humidity: Requires high ambient humidity, ideally 80-85% in summer, dropping to around 70% in winter. Strong air movement is essential at all times.
• Watering: Water heavily during active growth (spring to autumn), ensuring roots dry quickly after watering. Reduce watering in winter, but do not allow the plant to remain completely dry for long periods.

Additional Notes

This species is known for its 1.5-2.0 cm flowers, which are typically pink with a large, strongly toothed lip that may have white spots at the base. It is often found growing in fruit trees in its natural habitat.
