Description

Description

This is a small, cool-growing epiphytic orchid native to the montane forests of Borneo, found at elevations between 1200 and 1650 meters. It features a creeping rhizome and small, ovoid, yellowish-green pseudobulbs, each bearing a single leaf.

  • Light: Prefers bright, filtered light or partial shade, typical of the forest canopy. Avoid direct, intense midday sun.
  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate-growing species. Optimal range is 60-85°F (16-29°C), with a beneficial night temperature drop of about 10-12°F (6°C).
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally 70-80% or more, consistent with its cloud forest habitat. Good air movement is crucial to prevent leaf spotting.
  • Watering: The root system must be kept consistently moist and should not be allowed to dry out completely. Water frequently, especially if mounted, while ensuring excellent and rapid drainage.

Additional Notes

This species produces an erect, simple inflorescence about 5-8 cm long. The flower is approximately 2.5 cm wide, usually yellow, and its segments are somewhat hairy. Due to its creeping habit, it is often grown mounted on cork or tree fern slabs.
