Description

Description

A graceful epiphytic bromeliad native to the Andean cloud forests, producing long, arching terete leaves and pendent compound racemes with tightly imbricating floral spikes. The densely scaled, cone-like lateral spikes are the defining ornamental feature — architectural and sculptural in form, with a presence unlike any typical bromeliad.

  • Light: 60–70% shade cloth; bright indirect light. Avoid harsh direct midday sun.
  • Temperature: 50–75°F (10–24°C) — Cool to Intermediate grower. Thrives with good air movement and cool nights typical of Andean cloud forests.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; mist regularly or grow in a naturally humid environment. Excellent air circulation is essential.
  • Watering: Keep the base and leaf axils lightly moist; avoid waterlogging. Use soft, low-mineral water when possible.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or wood to showcase its pendulous habit, or in a well-draining mix in a hanging basket. Ships bare root and well-established.
