Description

Description

A distinctive miniature pleurothallid that sets itself apart with its forked, bifurcated petals — the unusual floral structure referenced in its name — producing successive, intricate flowers that fascinate collectors drawn to the remarkable diversity of the Pleurothallidinae.

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light under 60–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure, which can damage the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: Intermediate grower. Daytime 62–72°F (17–22°C), nighttime lows of 52–58°F (11–14°C); stable temperatures without extremes support consistent growth.
  • Humidity: Prefers 75–85% relative humidity; a humidifier or terrarium setup is ideal, with gentle air circulation to prevent stagnation around the fine foliage.
  • Watering: Keep the mount or substrate consistently moist; fine pleurothallid roots are sensitive to drying and should never be allowed to desiccate completely.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador and Colombia at mid-elevation cloud forests. Best grown mounted on cork bark or tree fern with a thin layer of live sphagnum moss, though small pots with fine bark or pure sphagnum are also effective.
