Ceratostema pendens f. red

A striking red form of Ceratostema pendens, an epiphytic Ericaceae from the cloud forests of South America. It produces long, pendulous stems with alternate, ovate-elliptic leaves of semi-coriaceous texture, with new growth emerging in a dramatically contrasting flush against the mature foliage — creating a cascading display of layered tones even outside of flowering season.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can desiccate the pendulous stems and damage the foliage.
• Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower that requires stable, mild temperatures and excellent air circulation.
• Humidity: 75–90%; very high humidity is essential to support the long pendulous stems and healthy root development.
• Watering: Keep the medium evenly moist but never waterlogged; the fine epiphytic root system is sensitive to both drought and saturation.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a hanging basket with a loose, well-draining epiphytic mix to accommodate its naturally pendulous habit. Shipped bare root in well-established condition. The red form is selected for its particularly vivid juvenile foliage flush, making it ornamental year-round.
