Description

Description

This small-sized, hot to warm-growing epiphytic orchid is found in primary montane forests of Southeast Asia, at elevations up to 1000 meters. It features ovoid pseudobulbs that are olive-green and bear a single, apical leaf.

  • Light: This orchid requires bright, indirect light or dappled shade, falling under intermediate light conditions. Avoid direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorching.
  • Temperature: As a warm grower, it thrives in temperatures ranging from 68-86°F (20-30°C). It should be protected from any cold drafts.
  • Humidity: High humidity levels, ideally 60-80%, are recommended. It requires good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly just as the potting medium or roots begin to dry out. The goal is consistent moisture, never allowing the plant to become completely dry or waterlogged.

Additional Notes

This species is prized for its unique, solitary flowers, which have an articulated lip that is part of a pollination mechanism by flies. It grows best mounted or in baskets made of wooden slats to encourage its creeping habit and ensure air circulation.
