Description

Description

This miniature epiphytic orchid from the cloud forests of Ecuador was registered by the Ecuagenera research team. Like other Stelis species, it is known for producing numerous tiny flowers on upright, chain-like inflorescences and requires cool, humid, and consistent growing conditions.

  • Light: Requires bright, filtered, or indirect light. Protect the plant from harsh direct sunlight, but ensure sufficient brightness to encourage its continuous flowering.
  • Temperature: Prefers cool to intermediate conditions. Ideal temperatures range between 54-75°F (12-24°C). A distinct drop in temperature at night is essential for this species.
  • Humidity: High humidity is crucial, ideally 70% or higher. Constant moisture in the air helps compensate for the plant's lack of large water-storage structures.
  • Watering: The growing medium or mount must be kept uniformly moist at all times and should never be allowed to dry out completely. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Flowers are typically minute and numerous, arranged tightly along an erect, spike-like inflorescence, giving a chain appearance. This miniature species is best cultivated mounted or in small pots using a fine, airy medium.
