Description

Description

A miniature species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador and Peru, Masd. strobelii is prized for its disproportionately large, fragrant white flowers produced freely on short, wiry spikes. This "big" selection offers a well-seasoned, multi-bloomed specimen — a plant with years of growth and multiple flowering cycles behind it.

  • Light: 70–80% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure to protect the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C) — Cool grower; thrives with cool nights and good air circulation year-round.
  • Humidity: 80–90%; consistent moisture in the air is essential — pair with strong airflow to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; water 2–3× per week. As with all Masdevallias, never allow the roots to dry out completely — this species has no pseudobulbs for water storage.

Additional Notes

Grown at Ecuagenera's facilities in the highlands of Ecuador under cool, humid conditions that closely replicate its natural Andean habitat. Plants are shipped bare root, well-established.
